Cadence
Privacy Policy

LAST UPDATED: 6/17/2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Cadence (“the app,” “we,” “us”) handles your information. Cadence is published by Digital Dolce Studio (“the developer”). Please read it carefully. By using Cadence, you agree to the handling of information described here.

Cadence is built on a simple principle: your personal data belongs to you and stays on your device. We do not operate servers that store your health, calendar, reminders, or journal. The sections below describe exactly what stays on your device, the few specific cases where data leaves it (always to services you choose and control), and the choices available to you.

The short version

◆On-device by design. Your health data, calendar and reminder content, journal entries, focus history, scores, and points are stored and processed on your device. Cadence operates no server of its own and never collects this information.
◆We don’t sell or share your data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
◆Apple services sync your own data, if you let them. Calendar, Reminders, and Health data sync across your devices only through your own Apple iCloud and HealthKit, under your Apple account — not through us.
◆A few features connect to outside services you choose. If you opt in, connected email (Gmail or Outlook) and Apple’s AI services involve data leaving your device. These are described in detail below and are always optional.

Information that stays on your device

The following information is created, stored, and processed locally on your device. It is not transmitted to us and we have no access to it:

◆Health and fitness data you authorize Cadence to read from Apple Health, such as heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, blood oxygen, activity and energy, workouts, and related metrics.
◆Your calendar events and reminders, read from the calendars and reminder lists already on your device.
◆Journal entries you write or record, including any context you choose to attach.
◆Focus sessions, the daily score and its underlying pillars, points, streaks, and the record of what you planned versus what you completed.
◆Nutrition and calorie entries you log, including descriptions and any estimates you confirm.
◆Your settings and preferences.

Cadence reads your calendars and reminders as a “lens” — it does not keep its own separate copy of your schedule. It writes only into the calendars and lists you already own or that you ask it to create within your own account.

How Cadence uses Apple Health (HealthKit)

With your permission, Cadence reads health and fitness data from Apple Health to calculate your recovery, strain, and trend signals and your daily score. This processing happens on your device. Cadence does not write calculated values (such as scores or recovery estimates) back into Apple Health.

There are exactly two cases where Cadence writes to Apple Health, and both are limited to data you yourself log in the app:

◆Workouts you record. When you record a workout in Cadence, it is saved to Apple Health as a workout so it appears alongside your other activity.
◆Nutrition you log. When you log food, the dietary energy you confirm is saved to Apple Health.

Cadence does not use Apple Health data for advertising or marketing, does not disclose it to third parties for those purposes, and does not share it with any party except as you direct. You can review and revoke Cadence’s Health permissions at any time in the Apple Health app or your device settings.

No account, no Cadence server

Cadence does not require you to create an account, and it does not have a backend server that stores your personal data. Because there is no account, there is no profile of you held by us. Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store and are tied to your Apple ID, not to any Cadence login.

Optional iCloud sync

If you turn on iCloud sync, Cadence uses Apple’s CloudKit to sync a small amount of its own information — such as your preferences and journal entries Cadence stores — across your devices through your personal iCloud account. This data resides in your iCloud, governed by Apple’s terms, and is not accessible to us. iCloud sync is off by default and can be turned off at any time. Your calendar, reminders, and Health data continue to sync (or not) through Apple’s own services, independently of this setting.

Connected email (optional)

If you choose to connect a Gmail or Outlook account, Cadence accesses your email to show messages and help you draft replies. This is the one feature where information is read over the network rather than only on your device. Important points:

◆Connected email is entirely optional and off until you add an account. The app is fully functional without it.
◆Your email is accessed directly between your device and your email provider (Google or Microsoft) using their official interfaces. It does not pass through any Cadence server, because none exists.
◆Your use of Gmail or Outlook through Cadence remains subject to Google’s and Microsoft’s own privacy policies and terms. Connected email is managed by your provider, not by Cadence, and is not covered by our on-device commitment.
◆Authentication uses your provider’s standard sign-in. Access credentials are stored securely on your device (in the device keychain) and are not sent to us.
◆You can disconnect an email account at any time in Settings, which stops Cadence’s access.

AI features

Some features — such as journal insights, time-usage recommendations, draft email replies, and calorie estimates from a description or photo — use artificial intelligence. Cadence is designed to run these using Apple’s on-device intelligence wherever possible. When a request is too complex for on-device processing, it may use Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, which is designed so that your data is not accessible to Apple and is not retained after the request.

Cadence does not send your health data, calendar, journal entries, email content, meal descriptions, or photos to any third-party AI provider. AI processing stays on Apple’s on-device and Private Cloud Compute path.

Device permissions Cadence may request

Cadence asks for certain permissions so features can work. Each is optional, is explained when requested, and can be changed later in your device settings. Declining a permission disables only the related feature; the rest of the app continues to work.

◆Apple Health: to read the metrics used for your scores and to save workouts and nutrition you log.
◆Calendars and Reminders: to read and organize your schedule and tasks.
◆Notifications: to send the nightly journaling reminder and other alerts you enable.
◆Location: if you enable it, to add place or weather context to journal entries.
◆Photos: if you enable it, to attach the day’s photos to a journal entry or to estimate calories from a meal photo.
◆Camera: if you enable it, to photograph a meal for calorie estimation.
◆Microphone / Speech: if you enable voice journaling, to transcribe spoken entries on your device.

Subscriptions and the App Store

Cadence offers optional paid subscriptions (Pro and Max) purchased through the Apple App Store. Apple processes these purchases and any payment information; we do not receive or store your payment details. Apple may share limited subscription and aggregate analytics information with the developer in accordance with Apple’s policies. Please review Apple’s privacy policy for how Apple handles this information.

Children

Cadence is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Cadence stores data on your own device and operates no server, we do not gather such information in the ordinary course; nonetheless, the app is intended for adults.

Your choices and rights

Because your data lives on your device and in your own Apple account, you remain in direct control of it:

◆You can view, edit, or delete your journal entries, logged workouts, nutrition entries, and other content within the app.
◆You can revoke any permission (Health, Calendars, Reminders, Location, Photos, Camera, Microphone) at any time in your device settings.
◆You can disconnect a connected email account in Settings.
◆You can turn iCloud sync on or off.
◆You can delete the app, which removes Cadence and its locally stored data from your device. Workouts and nutrition you saved to Apple Health, and any events or reminders in your own calendars, remain in those Apple services unless you delete them there.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act, including rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Because we do not hold your personal data on our own servers, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device and through your Apple account. If you have questions, contact us using the details below.

Security

Cadence relies on the security protections built into your Apple device and operating system, including device encryption and the secure keychain for any stored credentials. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but keeping your data on your device and out of a central server is a deliberate choice to reduce risk. Keeping your device and its software up to date helps protect your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app. Your continued use of Cadence after an update means you accept the revised policy.
